Apple iPhone 3Gs vs. Blackberry Bold 9700?

Hi, I'm 17, in high school, and will be attending college for business in September. I have the iPhone 3G now and I loath it. It is slow, it freezes, and it shuts down app when I am in the middle of using them. I have heard that the iPhone 3Gs is better, but should I be convinced? I love the apps as well as the web browsing on the 3G, but I cannot tolerate the problems I have now. I saw the Blackberry Bold 9700 and I fell in love. However, I heard the web browsing was sub-par and the apps are not yet as good as the iPhone. Please help me in my decision for a new phone. The Apple iPhone 3Gs or the Blackberry Bold 9700?
