ipod touch 4g not turning on?

hello, i have a problem with my ipod touch 4th generation, its not turning on at all, what i can remember is that i was in a rush to get out of the house and i saw the ipod screen on (i have auto-lock set to never) but i was in such a rush i didn’t lock my ipod. So when i come back home the next day i go to get my ipod and its off, so i go and try to charge it and usually from what i remember with my 2nd gen ipod is that there would be a red battery with a little lightning bolt sign but there wasn’t (my 4th gen has never completely ran out of battery), so i thought maybe it takes some time but it still didn’t work. I tried 3 different cables with 4 different power sources and still nothing. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they could tell me how to fix it because its really disappointing i only bought it about 2 weeks ago and i never had any problem like this when i still had my 2nd gen ipod, so if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.     just hold down the lock and home button until it turns on.

    I had the same problem, so I called Apple. This is a good idea to try first I tried holding down the lock & home button for at lease 10 sec but unfortuanately no luck. I have to return mine to the Apple store. I hope this doesn’t continue….. never had this problem with my 3 other generation ipods !

    I would be prepared to bet Steve Jobbs forgot his job and just sold the Ipod in a hurry.. :D

    It doesn’t work, knowing the whole home and power button trick my Ipod 4 genertion is hopless D: I’m going to take it to the apple store I guess :/

    well i had my ipod touch4 in the kitchen playing words put it in my pocket went to the bathroom then tried to turn it on nothing worked tried the methods on here first thing tried wall charger,laptop Sony stereo sound system and nothing worked are there any other options

    OMG think you so i am sicking of calling apple every other day my 4g hasn’t worked rite since i got it, it keeps asking to restore it and it crashes my i tunes when i plug it in and the closets apple store is like 86 miles away!

    they are sooo sensitive!! i set mine on the counter and it landed just a little to hard and shut off! first time was understandable cause i dropped it off the eliptical and it hit pretty hard. need to get a thicker gel case for it. thanks Daisy for the tip!
