my ipod tocuh says its connected to wi-fi, but safari, app store, etc don’t work?

I went to settings, tapped my wi-fi name and entered the passcode to connect and it says i have full bars because i am sitting like 10 feet away from my wireless router. But then when i tap safari, it doesn’t load the page. It just says “connecting” on the screen in grey. Then if i tap the app store, that doesn’t let me go to that either. A message comes up and says “Cannot connect to iTunes Store. Invalid Argument.” also in a blue box. I don’t know what’s wrong but anything that needs a wi-fi connection on my ipod, i can’t use. And it is very frusterating as well. I tried re-typing the password for my wi-fi network several times but it seems to do nothing.
I restarted my ipod touch and nothing happens either. I’m not sure what’s going on, but someone please help me.
oops, spelled touch wrong. touch ***
