Does the battey life shorten with the iphone if I always keep the battery fully charged?

Since the iPhone is a memory hog, when I'm at the the computer or in the car, I have been keeping it plugged into the charger so it'll stay fully charged. Does this mean I'm shortening the battery life by not letting it completely charge and discharge or is running it off auxiliary power ok?
