How common/easy is it to get viruses on the iTouch or iPhone?

I was playing around with my new iPod touch today (it's about a week old) and it froze. I got it working again, and then it froze again so I forced shutdown by pressing and holding the top power button. Now when I try to turn it back on it's giving me the blue screen of death. I was downloading Apps from the App store and browsing the internet. Any ideas? Thanks.
