iPhone 3G Questions…?

I just ordered an iPhone 3G it should be coming in a few days (1-2 weeks max) and I just have a couple of questions: Can a software update fix: 1) the lack of MMS support? 2) add a video recording function? 3) Any other lack of basic features (if there is any more) Thank you.
