My iphone software won’t download on my HP?

So I’ve been having this problem basically forever…..and no one from apple can help and I have no idea how to get a hold of the people who make my laptop (hewlett packer). I have a feeling it’s probably itunes. When I connect it and hit check for update it downloads up until the very end and then says error check your network connection (which I did several times) or try again later.
Can someone please help me?
