ok i have an iphone camera question?

I know this may be a hard question to answer bu can any one tell me how thick and wide the iphones camera is when it is taken out, in other words what is the actual lenth and width of the iphone camera because last night as i was taking apart my 2g ipod touch in the back where the camera for the iphone is lokated i saw that there was camera pin conectors so there for im guessing that a camera can be connected to my and any ipod touch 2g and considering how my ipod touch is jailbroken this means that i can download the iphone camera app which also means that if it works i would then drill a hole in the black area of the ipod touch, put every thing together and take pictures with it but before i do that i need to know what the width and lenth of the iphone camera is so that i can see if it will fit into my ipod touch 2g also i searched in ebay and i found replacement cameras for the iphone which means that i can buy a camera online
