old iPhone with 2.1 software…iTunes account?

So today I took my phone to apple because the touch screen was broken and they gave me a replacement with a new one with the new 3G software which is 2.1. I thought this was pretty cool until I was going to install an application and the account name was like a Mac account and not mine and I couldnt install the app without the password...does anyone know what I have to do?
