Why doesn’t iTunes recognize my iPhone?

I’m totally stumped and hoping one of you wonderful computer wizards can help me. I recently got an Iphone. However my computer/iTunes wont recognize it. When I plug it in my computer recognizes it as a camera. iTunes does not recognize it at all. Sometimes my computer asks if I want to install the hardware for it but when i run the wizard it doesn’t find any applicable hardware. (I have installed the latest version of iTunes) So I tried to update my USB driver. I went through the tip I found on this site to go to control panel/computer management, right click on my driver and click update. It usually says that it cannot find a better driver than the one I am using. I also tried uninstalling it altogether and reinstalling and still nothing. I followed the instructions on Apple’s site on how to do this as well, including the exact location to tell my computer to look in, and it found nothing. Any other tricks or tips that I’m missing? I’m going crazy trying to get this thing to work!

The issue can be resolved by performing the following steps:
STEP 1. Run the devmgmt.msc command to open the Device Manager.
STEP 2. Select View > Devices by Type.
STEP 3. Expand the USB controllers section, right-click each USB Root Hub entry, select Properties > Power Management.
STEP 4. Clear Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box and restart the system.
