hi. i havent updated my iphone in a while and i need to unlock my iphone since i’ll be leaving the country in a few weeks. i have an an jailbroken iphone 3g with 2.1 firmware and i’d like to update it to firmware 3.0 or 3.0.1 so i can unlock it with redsnow. another question: does it matter that i jailbroke it the first time with quickpwn and now im gonna use redsnow or do i still have to use quickpwn when i rejailbreak it after updating?

ok say i have version 2.2 when i jailbreak using quickpwn do i have to browse for the 2.2 firmware or can i go ahead and use tha 3.0 or 3.1?

I have a 2G Iphone and have tried quickpwn as well as redsn0w to jailbreak my Iphone. I tried using the restore files that go with each program, but everytime I get an error message from I tunes that says something cannot restore because your Iphone uses incomatible files. The restore files ive used are iphone1,1_2.2_5G77_restore and
iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw I tried going ahead without the restore but, using redsn0w, I got stuck at the part where it says “please wait while we your device is being jailbroken.” and “waiting to reboot” Also, when i saved the two BIN files (BL3.9 and Bl 4.6) they saved as a VLC media file. Isnt that for movies? does this make a difference? Thanks!
By the way, the files that itunes says are incompatible are called “firmware files”

Everytime I go to update my iPhone to the newest FW like from 3.0-3.0.1 it bricks, it will go 3/4 of the way and then stops and gives me error 1014, I need to open QUICKPWN 3.0 and then it shows the "slide for emergency" screen. But it won't without this, it is very annoying. Why is it doing this?

I am a computer software consultant, but still this is basically a toy for me and I don't want a lot of complicated instructions or hours of effort. I want it to be fast, easy, safe, and support as many apps as possible. Ideally, I'd like a one-step break that comes up with Cydia ready to go. The dev-team said there new jailbreak was to be released Friday but here it is Sunday with noone jailbroken. NOTE: I don't use yellowsn0w for anything just need the break.

i hope you read all of this... Ok first off, I have a 8gig 2G iPhone(the old one), T-Mobile is my carrier, i have jailbroken older versions of firmware(1.1.4, 2.2, 2.2.1), im running this on Vista, (thats all i have), im using Quickpwn 3.0 Beta 3,and im desperate.
You Should Know... I Had Jailbroken and unlocked The 3.0 firmware on my phone once before, but then i downloaded poof from icy and accidentally hid icy AND poof, so then i wanted to re-jailbreak my iphone to see if i could get icy back to normal but then this... every time i try to "Shift+Restore" to choose a firmware, when i choose it, and it starts to extract the firmware and stuff, it just stops and an error window pops up that says "could not restore blah blah error 1600 Blah Blah!" I dont know what to do!
And Yes i put the phone in recovery mode before i do any of the above^^
I have Tried... - Using quickpwn without restoring - using a different .ipsw And different Quickpwn beta's(1,2,4,&5) - restarting computer - restarting phone - taking my sim card out - Google-ing my problem - using all my different usb ports - and ive tried relaxing and taking it slow but nothing seems to work!
Please Help Me and if you need any more info from me just write it as an answer and ill respond to whatever u need.

Hey guys I own a 1st generation iPhone. IT IS NOT REGISTERED ON ITUNES BECAUSE I DON'T NOT WANT TO PAY THE $30 EVERY MONTH. I had it jailbroken before using Quickpwn and using the 2.2.1 firmware. Last night I upgraded my iPhone to get the 3.0 fimware now my iPhone is locked. I currently have the iTunes 8.2 version installed and I have the QuickPwn 3.0 and the 3.0 BETA firmware. everything works except when it comes to where it says waiting for iPhone to connect to recovery mode. It is stuck on that part. I've left it like that for over an hour and nothing is happening. PLEASE HELPPPPP!! I really need my iPhone to be fixed because I use it for a lot of things and my life is not running smoothly without it! THANKS!
