Do only unlocked cellphones, such as Blackberrys and iphones, have free internet and e-mail usage?
How can you get free internet and e-mail usage. Do only unlocked/jailbroken cellphones have this? With an unlocked iphone you can use some apps for free. Are there other phones that are similar? really? But my friend is able to use the internet and check her e-mail for free, wifi? mmm... sorry, I'm not ..smart in this area. Hi I have a 8gb 3G Iphone. I bought it to give to my wife for Christmas. It is locked to the O2 network. I am living in Cyprus and need to unlock it. About a month ago, I unlocked my 3GS iphone with Blackra1n and it all went very smoothly and I now have an unlocked iphone. However, I’ve tried many times with this 3G iphone and after running blackra1n, I install Cydia and Snow, it all looks fine, until I put the Cyprus sim card in. I then get the recovery screen come up and it says “different sim detected. Please connect to itunes” which of course doesn’t solve the problem. The strange thing is, it seems to be picking up the Cyprus network on the top left hand corner, but it stays on the recovery screen and is unable to make or receive calls. I’ve tried rebooting several times. I’ve restored, updated the latest software from itunes. I’ve checked everywhere on the internet but I can’t seem to get any further. I’m now desperate as it looks like my wife will not be getting a Christmas present and heaven help me. I’d appreciate any help with this matter. Thank you. I bought an unlocked iphone and using w/ tmobile. Everytime i shut down the phone and restart, it shows a screen requiring connect to itunes. I don't know what software was used to jailbreak/unlock. When I charge it (with sim card still in) it heats up. However, when I remove the sim card, the iPhone performs well; battery lasts very long and it doesn’t heat up.

I want to buy an iTouch. But then I was thinking maybe an unlocked iPhone would be better. I get the camera from the unlocked iPhone which isn’t that great. The biggest draw was using the GPS from it. I’ve read that some people say you can’t use the GPS function without service. I thought that the GPS chip was separate from phone service and would still work if I had no plan. So can I use the GPS function on an unlocked iPhone 3g without it being activated on a plan? And is there any other pros or cons of buying a unlocked iPhone 3g over an iTouch?
